Metallurgical Engineer
Location: Milford, UT
Position Summary:
Motivated Metallurgical Engineer to support and optimize copper processing operations across flotation, leaching, solvent extraction, and electrowinning. In this role, you will work alongside experienced metallurgists and operations leaders to analyze plant performance, improve recovery, and drive continuous process improvements. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer who wants hands-on exposure in an active mineral processing environment and the opportunity to make measurable operational impact.
Responsibilities Include:
Data Analysis and Reporting
Analyze laboratory and plant data to identify trends and optimization opportunities
Prepare clear, actionable reports with findings and recommendations
Process Optimization
Partner with operations and senior metallurgists to improve recovery, reduce costs, and enhance product quality
Support implementation of plant improvement initiatives
Troubleshooting and Technical Support
Assist in diagnosing process inefficiencies and equipment challenges
Support root cause analysis and corrective actions
Quality and Compliance
Monitor product quality and support quality control protocols
Ensure adherence to safety, environmental, and regulatory standards
Continuous Improvement and Innovation
Stay current on metallurgical advancements and emerging technologies
Contribute to research and development efforts to enhance process performance
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Chemical, or Mineral Processing Engineering
0–5 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Understanding of copper extraction and refining processes
Experience with laboratory testing, experimental design, and data analysis
Familiarity with Distributed Control Systems (DCS)
Programming or computer science exposure
Project experience or formal project training
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively across teams
