Job Overview: Embark on an impactful journey as an Environmental Specialist in the picturesque landscapes of Southern Utah. Join us in championing environmental compliance within our mining operations, overseeing permits, reclamation efforts, and fostering sustainability in collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
Your Role:
Permit Management: Collaborate with governmental agencies to acquire and maintain crucial permits for mining operations, ensuring compliance and fostering robust relationships.
Environmental Stewardship: Lead the revision and creation of permits, emphasizing environmental plans, spill control, discharge, air quality, and more.
Reclamation Leadership: Drive mine reclamation projects, directing waste dump design, regrading, and implementing effective revegetation strategies.
Supervisory Support: Oversee and support contract engineers and constructors in mining-related geotechnical projects.
Data Management: Oversee the sampling and management of solids, media, and water, aligning with permit, reclamation, and construction needs.
Mapping and Records: Utilize CAD and GIS to update property boundaries, disturbance areas, calculate acreages, and manage computer files related to permits and projects.
Essential Duties:
Permit Application: Apply for, revise, and submit various permits while ensuring compliance with governmental agencies and company standards.
Data Analysis: Collect, compile, and evaluate data pertaining to permits and ongoing/future projects, ensuring comprehensive compliance.
Inspection & Reporting: Conduct in-house inspections, compile reports, and assist in generating updates and status reports for regulatory agencies.
Collaborative Engagement: Work closely with mine and process managers, ensuring operational alignment with permit revisions.
Safety & Compliance: Collaborate with safety managers to seamlessly integrate environmental compliance into safety protocols.
Agency Coordination: Assist senior environmental coordinators during meetings, presentations, and site visits with government agencies linked to mine operations.
Minimum Requirements:
Education: BS in environmental science, physical science, engineering, or a related field.
Skills: Entry-level understanding of mining and processing principles, coupled with proficient navigation of permit documents.
Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, fostering effective collaboration and reporting.
Adaptability: A willingness to learn and thrive in a dynamic work environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in ArcGIS, AutoCAD, and related software isadvantageous.
Experience: Three years in the environmental and permitting field, including collaboration with regulatory agencies.
