Human Resource Generalist

Location: Salt Lake City, Utah

Job Summary: 

Reporting to the Chief People Officer, the Human Resources Generalist will manage key operational and administrative HR functions while supporting strategic initiatives across the organization. The ideal candidate will be equally comfortable working with confidential employee information, improving systems, analyzing data, supporting managers, and helping create a positive employee experience.

Responsibilities: 

Employee Engagement and Performance Management

  • Oversee the day-to-day performance-management process, including goal setting, review schedules, system maintenance, process improvement, and best practices for writing effective
  • performance reviews
  • Develop employee-engagement initiatives that strengthen culture, communication, morale, and retention
  • Partner with employees, managers, senior leaders, and external vendors on a variety of HR matters
  • Support initiatives that improve organizational effectiveness and employee satisfaction
  • Collaborate with Finance and other internal teams on cross-functional projects

HRIS, Payroll, and Systems

  • Manage and maintain the organization’s HRIS and related employee platforms
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, integrations, and process improvements
  • Assist with payroll administration and payroll-related reporting
  • Maintain accurate employee data and ensure the integrity of HR systems
  • Use AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to improve efficiency, research, communication, and workflow
  • Prepare reports, spreadsheets, and analyses using Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel

Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Create and update job descriptions
  • Coordinate recruitment activities from position approval through hiring
  • Partner with managers to support a professional and efficient candidate experience
  • Coordinate onboarding, orientation, documentation, and employee offboarding
  • Maintain accurate records throughout the employee lifecycle

Compensation and Benefits

  • Support benefits renewals, open enrollment, employee communications, and benefits administration
  • Assist with compensation planning, benchmarking, and market-data analysis
  • Support executive and companywide compensation initiatives
  • Help evaluate the competitiveness and effectiveness of total-rewards programs

Reporting, Compliance, and Administration

  • Maintain organizational charts and workforce documentation
  • Maintain confidential personnel files, employee handbooks, policies, and HR records
  • Support compliance with applicable state and federal employment laws
  • Prepare HR reports, metrics, analyses, and materials for internal initiatives and business proposals
  • Review and improve HR policies, procedures, systems, and administrative workflows

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or at least three years of progressive HR experience
  • Strong technical proficiency with HRIS platforms and advanced Excel skills, including lookup formulas, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and macros
  • Experience managing performance-management programs and complex HR systems
  • Experience with payroll processing and healthcare benefits administration
  • Knowledge of compensation benchmarking and market-data analysis preferred
  • Working knowledge of state and federal employment laws
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, discretion, and sound judgment
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Analytical, resourceful, and practical approach to problem-solving
  • Comfortable working independently with significant autonomy
  • Able to lead strategic initiatives while maintaining a hands-on, roll-up-your-sleeves approach
  • Equally effective working independently and as part of a collaborative team
