Manager of Business Development

Location: Sandy, UT

Reports to: Vice President Commercial Operations

Description:

  • Evaluating all commercial business opportunities and making recommendations to The Company’s Senior Management Team.
  • Drafting and reviewing contract terms and contract language
  • Financial evaluation of acquisition and growth opportunities
  • Making recommendations and formulating strategy for price hedging.
  • Developing new customers and new market opportunities
  • Assisting with the commercial assumptions for development of budgets and periodic business forecasts
  • Tracking contract performance and ensuring compliance with key commercial contract terms
  • Assisting with developing and maintaining customer relationships
  • Periodic travel to mine sites, yards, terminals, and customers sites
  • Assisting with development of coal blend plans and logistics plans
  • Negotiating key logistics contracts for rail service, truck service, transloading services, rail set leases and port services
  • Monitoring market indicators and providing routine updates to management on market movements and trends
  • Competitor analysis
  • Assisting with development of board presentations

Education: Minimum, Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics. MBA Preferred.

Qualifications: PA and/or CFA preferred

Experience: 5 Years + of financial evaluation and decision making in mining or similar heavy industry. 5 years + of commercial experiencing including contract administration, sales, logistics, capital evaluation and strategy in mining or similar heavy industry.

Skills: Proficient at financial modeling, Microsoft Excel, business writing

General: This role is highly influential in shaping the overarching strategy of The Company and touches all commercial and financial aspects of the business. A successful candidate will need to be able to provide timely and accurate analysis across a broad spectrum of decisions. The individual will need to be able to work well with a variety of cross functional teams including operational personnel. No formal training is offered with this role and a successful candidate will be expected to learn and adapt quickly. The duties of this role are not highly structured, and a successful candidate is expected to be self-driven, creative, and proactive in finding ways to manage and improve the business.
